State Conservation Projects MapAlabama is part of the Mississippi Flyway and provides important winter habitat for waterfowl that are produced in the Prairie Pothole Region and Great Lakes states.

Ducks Unlimited's conservation priority in Alabama is to restore wetlands through partnerships with federal and state agencies. To date, DU and its partners have enhanced and protected more than 18,700 acres of wetland habitat across the state, including projects on Mud Creek and David K. Nelson wildlife management areas and Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge.

These public land projects provide not only winter waterfowl habitat, but also hunting opportunities for Alabama sportsmen and women. Our goal is to perpetually secure habitat and the future of Alabama as an important wintering area in North America.
